NADS Wins NODA Award for The Hound of the Baskervilles

We're absolutely delighted that Newick Amateur Dramatic Society (NADS) has received its very first NODA Accolade of Excellence for our production of The Hound of the Baskervilles, staged December 2025.
Our spoof version of The Hound of the Baskervilles was a huge hit with audiences, bringing plenty of laughter, wonderfully eccentric characters, lightning-fast costume changes and just enough theatrical chaos to keep everyone on their toes. Winning a NODA Award is a tremendous honour and one that belongs to everyone involved in the production. From our talented cast, who threw themselves into the comedy with fearless enthusiasm, to our brilliant prop builders, technical team and backstage crew, who somehow kept everything running smoothly while the madness unfolded around them. Of course, we'd also like to thank our audiences. The laughter, encouragement and support we received throughout the run helped make every performance special. Amateur theatre is all about bringing people together, and this production was a wonderful example of that. What started as a simple plan to stage a comedy soon became a whirlwind of frantic entrances and exits, inventive staging, suspiciously hairy hounds and enough comic mayhem to keep Sherlock Holmes scratching his head for years. The hard work, creativity and teamwork shown by everyone involved made the production something truly memorable. To receive a NODA Accolade of Excellence for The Hound of the Baskervilles is fantastic. To receive the first award in the history of Newick Amateur Dramatic Society makes it even more special. Whether it was the comic timing, the ingenious staging or simply the fact that nobody was actually eaten by the hound, we're incredibly proud of what was achieved. Most of all, this award is a celebration of the people who make NADS such a special amateur theatre society. Thank you to every cast member, crew member, volunteer, supporter and audience member who helped make this happen. Here's to many more productions, plenty more laughter, and hopefully a few more awards along the way. Originally written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, this stage adaptation by Steven Canny & John Nicolson was directed by Allison Potter-Drake. With five actors playing fourteen parts, not only were the cast put through their paces, but so too were the rest of the team – including backstage crew, sound and lighting operators, and our talented prop builders.
