We’re thrilled that The Hound of the Baskervilles, staged in December 2025, has received a NODA Accolade of Excellence – a first for NADS!
The success of The Hound of the Baskervilles proved that a great script is only part of the story. It takes a dedicated team, a lot of hard work, and just the right amount of controlled madness to bring it to life. Fortunately, NADS had all three. This award belongs to everyone involved. To our cast, who threw themselves into the comedy with fearless enthusiasm; our talented prop builder, our technical and backstage crew, who somehow kept the whole thing running despite the mayhem unfolding around them; and of course our audiences, whose laughter and support made every performance a joy. We couldn't be prouder of this wonderfully talented and slightly unhinged group of people. What began as a simple plan to put on a comedy somehow evolved into flying costume changes, frantic entrances and exits, suspiciously hairy hounds, and enough chaos to keep Sherlock Holmes employed for years. To receive a NODA Accolade of Excellence is a tremendous honour. To receive the first one in our society's history makes it even more special. Whether it was the impeccable comic timing, the ingenious staging, or simply the fact that nobody was actually eaten by the hound, we'll happily take the win! Thank you and congratulations to everyone who played a part in this fantastic achievement. Here's to the cast, crew, volunteers and supporters who made history for NADS – and to many more adventures, mysteries and moments of theatrical mischief in the future. Originally written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, this stage adaptation by Steven Canny & John Nicolson was directed by Allison Potter-Drake. With five actors playing fourteen parts, not only were the cast put through their paces, but so too were the rest of the team – including backstage crew, sound and lighting operators, and our talented prop builders.
